Late Lunch - Manx Radio

The Island's first fully 'Fairtrade Family' and their annual pop-up shop

11 minutes | Wednesday, 28 October 2020

The Cooil Hall Annual Fairtrade Sale and Lunches is a shopping experience unlike any other. It all began when two Manxies randomly happened across each other some years ago in a little place called Tanzania and since then, Malcolm and Margie Newton's dedication and passion for ethical retail has played a major part in the IOM being named a Fair Trade Island.

37 years after the first sale took place in the family living room, the Newtons will continue the tradition this weekend (Oct 29th to 31st), this despite the sudden and unexpected passing of Malcolm earlier this year. Christy found out more about the event and got a sneak preview of what's on sale with daughter Katie.
