Education

Funding for education is planned to increase by £8.3 million this financial year, a 5.5% increase

It means the Department of Education, Sport and Culture’s total budget is now £149,834, with £118 million spent on staff.

The increase includes an additional £3 million to continue delivering the aims of the Childcare Strategy, providing additional financial support to working families.

Capital Projects

£800,000 has been allocated for a full roof replacement at St Ninian’s High School to provide a safe and functional building. This project will also include solar panels to increase energy efficiency.

If approved, Ballasalla Primary School will be getting £300,000 to buy and install a new double mobile classroom.

If you’re wondering whether there’ll be more funding for ongoing projects like the new Castle Rushen High School or the STEM Block at Queen Elizabeth II High School, we don’t know because it doesn’t look like any funding is being allocated this financial year.
