Capital Projects
Capital Projects:
A capital project is either the commitment to creating new facilities or improving those that already exist.
Treasury says it’s providing a full capital programme totalling £300 million commits to investment in the Island over the next five years.
Capital expenditure of £87.4 million in 2025-26 hopes to support the local construction sector and provide much needed improvements to critical national infrastructure.
More than £1 million is planned to be invested in improving sports facilities around the Island, including various lighting improvements at the NSC.
Meanwhile, £6.1 million is being committed to maintaining the Island’s roads.
£800,000 has been allocated for a full roof replacement at St Ninian's High School to provide a safe and functional building. The work will include solar panels to increase energy efficiency.
Other projects getting funding include a further £1.37 million to Manx Utilities to continue formulating a fully costed business case for an onshore wind farm and £67,000 to Peel Marina and River Neb Catchment.
If you’re wondering whether there’ll be more funding for ongoing projects like the new Castle Rushen High School, a STEM Block at Queen Elizabeth II High School and the replacement for Cummal Mooar, we don’t know because it doesn’t look like any funding is being allocated this financial year.
