On the programme today, Howard caught up with Royal Family star and British TV treasure Ricky Tomlinson, who has joined forces with the Co-Op to look into alternative, eco-friendly options for funerals and coffins in the future. Ricky admitted that although he'd like a traditional service, he'd happily have his remains rooted to the ground rather remaining on the telly (in an urn), as he'd like the idea of being turned into a tree after he's gone...
We looked at the 2019 Baby Names List, celebrated the birthday of Eddie Reader and the release of Rick Astley's rickrolling hit 'Never Gonna Give You Up' which went to No.1 in 1987 and we started the show with Soul Starter with Edwin Starr's 'War' which started a 3 week run at No.1 on this day in 1970.
Also today, we celebrated 25 years since the release of Oasis game changing debut album 'Definitely Maybe', out on this day in 1994. Love it or hate it, the era defining record was the sound of a generation - so we pitted Oasis against Oasis in the Jukebox, giving you the choice of 'Live Forever' or 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', with the former winning out, which was perhaps a knee jerk reaction to Ricky's topic?! ;-)
