On Air Manx Radio Breakfast Ben Hartley | 6:00am - 9:00am

Late Lunch listen again: John Bowker, Dave McLean, Mike Davis and Bod!

Howard and Christy started the programme today with a Soul Starter from the Detroit Spinners, continuing the Motown theme, as the song was released on the Motown VIP Label in 1970, co-written and produced by Stevie Wonder;

We had an update from Mike Davis, who is attempting to swim around the Isle of Man. He set out 15 days ago, has contended with rough seas, stinging jelly fish and inquisitive seals as he swam down the east coast of the Island from the north and round the Sound. He is still confident at this stage of completing his challenge to swim right the way around the coast with another four swims. Mike is raising funds for the Manx Wildlife Trust and Blue Marine Foundation. You can sponsor Mike in his fundraising efforts by visiting www.justgiving.com/teams/IsleofManSwim

Also today, we celebrated John Peel with the Jukebox. The legendary broadcaster and TV presenter was born On This Day in 1939, so we gave you the choice of two of Peel's legacy artists - Pulp 'Do You Remember the First Time' and, of course, Undertones with Teenage Kicks, which Peel described as 'the perfect song'. Perhaps unsurprisingly the latter won!

And Howard shared his experience of attending yesterday's launch of the Our Island Our World competition, which kicked off in fine style with a tribal drumming workshop on Tynwald Hill, run by drum guru John Bowker. Howard went along to have a bash - quite literally - and also chatted with festival organizer Dave McLean. The second Our Island, Our World festival takes place around Peel on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st September . The family day takes place tomorrow in the Corrin Hall and around the Cathedral grounds with all manner of activities and food for all the family . . its free and won't be weather affected! Concert tickets are available from www.centenarycentre.com, Celtic Gold. Corlett's the Jewellers, Shakti Man and Thompson Travel.

If you missed any part of today's show you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days.
