Volleyball: IoM targeting further expansion for latest season

Hopes to create designated women's league among potential 24/25 plans

There are hopes to once again expand the sport of volleyball on Island ahead of the new season getting underway in the coming weeks.

Volleyball Isle of Man is setting out its latest plans for the 2024/25 campaign which is expected to involve both domestic competition and Island squads taking part in UK tournaments.

Among the potential changes to the local scene could be the creation of a designated women's league for the first time alongside the current mixed and men's setups.

Volleyball IoM says this would be subject to a number of things falling into place with the format of the Manx season still to be finalised.

Elsewhere, the organisation says it intends to again mount a charge on off-Island events which would include the Isle of Man men's and women's squads.

As part of this, the men's team will play their first Volleyball England National Shield fixture on 28 September against Everton Dugongs.

Both the female and male sides are then due to take part in the Des Jeffers Cup - the curtain raiser to the Merseyside Volleyball League (MVL) in Liverpool on 27 October and 3 November respectively.

Natalie Wood of Volleyball IoM adds they also have ambitions to enter the MVL later this year.
