Volleyball: IoM Men finish runners-up at Des Jeffers Cup

Island side enjoy strong results on the Wirral

A positive string of performances has seen the Isle of Man Men's volleyball side finish runners-up in this year's Des Jeffers Cup across the water.

Competing at Woodchurch HS Sports Centre near Birkenhead on Sunday (3 November) the Manx side made it all the way to final before a straight sets defeat in the remaining showdown to eventual winners Royals (15-12, 15-9).

It followed a dominant group stage display from the Island squad in Pool B of the event.

They topped the standings there with victories over Chester Trojans; Seahawks B; Fairfield and Lynx.

Volleyball IoM is describing the male team's results as 'an incredible effort' and are 'proud to see (the) Isle of Man taking its place among the top.'

It comes after the Isle of Man took part in the women's tournament of the Des Jeffers Cup a week previous on Sunday, 27 October.

That competition was won by Wigan Seahawks with Everton Seahorses finishing second.
