TT 2025: Yeardsley expecting 'steep learning curve' this season

Manxman to campaign 1000cc machines for first time this year

Manx TT competitor Joe Yeardsley says he's expecting a 'steep learning curve' as he prepares to race 1000cc machinery on the Snaefell Mountain Course for the first time this year.

Having made his debut at the meeting last year, the Island rider will be part of a two-man Scott Racing team for the TT with French debutant Julien Cregniot for 2025.

Along with competing for the squad in the familiar Supersport and Supertwin classes, this year will also see Yeardsley pilot an Aprilia RSV4 in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior categories this summer.

Whilst having 'mixed feelings' about his results in 2024, the 2023 Senior MGP winner adds there's no pressure to worry about in his first foray into the 1000cc competitions.

He says: "The beauty though is that everyone knows that and there are no expectations, aims or hopes from anyone when it comes to the 1000cc races. It’s a project for all of us so it’s all about learning as much as I can this first year to put me in good stead for the years after.

“The Supersport and Supertwin races will be the ones where we hope to get some strong results again and we’ll take it as it comes on the big bike.

“With a good pre-season and plenty of meetings pencilled in though, I’ll be better prepared than ever for the TT so am confident of having a strong year."

Separately, Yeardsley confirmed earlier this year that he's also planning to make his maiden appearance at the North West 200 next month.

Meanwhile, Cregniot will making the move up to the TT having impressed in the IRRC Supersport Championship and Manx Grand Prix.

Having made his MGP debut in 2023, the 31-year-old managed fourth place finishes in both the Junior and Senior MGP races last year.
