Nigel Quaye and Dr Richard Callow in Hawaii for major challenge
A pair of Isle of Man athletes are set to take on the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship this weekend.
Nigel Quaye and Dr Richard Callow will face the grueling test on Kona, Hawaii on Saturday, 26 October.
Described by organisers as 'the ultimate test of body, mind and spirit' the Island competitors will be part of more than 2,400 male athletes taking on a 140.6-mile course.
Starting with a 2.4-mile swim, competitors will face a 112-mile bike ride before concluding the challenge with a 26.2-mile run.
There are 138 athletes from the United Kingdom taking part whilst 85 countries, regions and territories will be represented in total.
The event is welcoming a broad range of ages from the youngest registered athlete - 20-year-old Wojciech Poparda of Poland - up to New Zealand's Warren Hill who will be the eldest at 84 years old.
