Tennis: Honours aplenty at 2024 veteran championships

Thirteen events in total during recent competition at Castletown

Honours aplenty have been handed out during the recent Isle of Man Veteran's Closed Tennis Championships.

Thirteen events took place with age groups ranging from 35 & Over to 65 & Over across men's singles; women's singles; men's doubles; women's doubles and mixed doubles at Castletown Lawn Tennis Club.

Whilst the tournament was meant to be held only across 13-20 July, poor weather on the last day meant the last of the finals wasn't played until more than two weeks later.

Among the winners, new names ended up claiming the men's 35 & Over and 45 & Over titles in the form of Craig Blackwell and Nerijus Gricevicius respectively.

In the equivalent women's competitions, Rosie Manuja was crowned 35 & Over winner with the 45 & Over prize heading to Lucy Felton in a repeat of the results in those competitions in 2023.

In the doubles competitions - three in each of the men's and women's classes - among the highlights were Cathy Tsitsos and Jenny Foy winning both the 45 & Over and 55 & Over events.

Only one mixed double's event took place with a 55 & Over category with Foy and Blackwell teaming up to take top honours.
