Snooker: Hill & Mercer heading to Euro and World championships

Duo to fly Manx flag in Portugal and Qatar

Two of the Isle of Man's leading snooker players will embark on a series of international competitions from later this week.

Darryl Hill and Dollin Mercer will represent the Island at this year's EBSA European Team Snooker Championships in the Algarve, Portugal from Friday (18 October) until next Thursday (24 October).

After this, Hill will then travel to Doha, Qatar to take part in the 2024 IBSF World Amateur Championships from 1-6 November.

The Isle of Man Billiards & Snooker Association (IoMBSA) is wishing luck to both competitors over the coming weeks.

IoMBSA says the EBSA tournament will run in a new 'scotch doubles' format this year which will see pairs play alternate shots rather than visits to the table.

The pairing have been drawn in a group alongside France 1, Poland 1 and Denmark and both are also due to be involved in the 'Shootout' phase on Saturday (20 October).

Meanwhile at the IBSF competition Hill - due to his performance at the same event in 2023 in which he reached the last-16 - will proceed straight to the Last-48 stage.
