Extra opening day practice and two contingency sessions being suggested

Changes have been proposed for the Southern 100 Road Races schedule for the 2025 event.

An additional practice & qualifying slot is being planned on the opening day on Bank Holiday Monday, 7 July from 1.45pm until 4pm ahead of the traditional evening slot that day between 6pm and 9.40pm.

Elsewhere two contingency sessions are being proposed with one of them between 1.15pm and 3.15pm on Wednesday, 9 July and from 6pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, 10 July.

Southern 100 Race Secretary George Peach says they believe adding an afternoon session on the Monday 'would ease pressure on the evening session, especially for newcomers to the races.'

He adds the Wednesday contingency would only be used if Monday and Tuesday practice time is lost whilst the Thursday contingency would be activated only if all or a large part of Championship Day the same day has to be called off.

The schedule and the potential alterations are subject to necessary road closure orders being approved.
