Entries have also now opened for this year's meeting in July

From this year, competitors at the Southern 100 Road Races will now be able to compete on the 'next generation' of Supersport machines.

It's hoped the move means a wider variety of machines, teams and competitors can be attracted to take part in the meeting.

Announcing the changes, the Southern 100 club believes this 'aligns the event with the evolving landscape of international and domestic motorcycle racing'.

Officials are also confident that embracing 'Next Generation' regulations will allow a variety of different engines to compete on equal terms and offer what's described as a 'more diverse and engaging racing experience.'

As part of a perceived shift in recent times in the class it's expected these changes can welcome the likes of the Ducati Panigale V2, Suzuki GSX-R750 and Triumph 765 to the grid alongside established choices such as the Yamaha R6 and Kawasaki ZX-6R.

Southern 100 Club Chairman George Peach adds: "The Supersport class has been a staple of the Southern 100 for years, and embradcing the Next Generation regulations ensures that we continue to attract top teams and riders while maintaining an exciting and competitive racing format.

"This evolution of the class not only keeps pace with global trends but also enhances the spectacle for fans."

Meanwhile, entries have now also opened for the landmark 70th edition of the Southern 100 Road Races which is due to be held from 7-10 July.

Entry forms and regulations are available online at www.southern100.com - the deadline for applications to take part will be on Friday, 31 May 2025.
