Douglas claim away win

Douglas beat Crewe and Nantwich 25-20 to claim some valuable points on the road in Regional 2 North West.

They closed the gap to sixth place Altrincham Kersal to four points after Kersal lost to Vale of Lune.

Kyle Martin, Conor Garland and skipper Blake Snell all went in for Douglas tries with Nathan Robson converting two from three and adding two penalties as well.

Douglas now have a week off before Winnington Park visit Port-e-Chee on 22 March.

Vagas suffer at Ormskirk

The pressure caused by a punishing 2025 schedule continues to affect Vagas on the field as they suffered a 67-17 defeat away at Ormskirk.

A more positive result for them was bottom side Orrell conceding a fixture against Clitheroe which is likely to result in a points deduction and should keep them well below Vagas.

Vagas have four games remaining including back-to-back away games at Ashton-under-Lyne and Dukinfield starting next Saturday.

Big win for Vagabonds Ladies

There was better news for Vagas Ladies in Womens NC2 North (South).

They celebrated International Ladies Day with a 56-5 win against Littleborough in front of sponsors Gallagher and patron Lady Lorimer.

A first half hat trick from Freya Crowe plus tries from Greeba Taisia and Maylyn Campbell and two Sammy Macdonald conversions saw Vagas race into a 29-0 lead.

Littleborough, who were better than the scoreline suggests struck back through Charlotte Lever to reduce the Vagas lead to 29-5 at the break.

In the second half Crowe added her fourth, Campbell ran in another three to equal her and skipper Leona McGovern also got in on the action with a long-range strike of her own.

Macdonald added another conversion as well.

The win temporarily elevates Vagas to second place in the standings pending Sunday’s results.
