A new era got off to the best possible start for Ramsey Rugby Club on Saturday.
They began a new chapter in the club's history by winning their debut match in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Four.
The trip to Linley resulted in a 14-5 win with Sean Wylie grabbing a try and two conversions and promising youngster Finton Cummins the other try scorer.
All the damage was done in the first half as Ramsey marked a day to remember.
It was also an important day for promoted Douglas and they were involved in an exciting contest in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two, drawing 22-22 at home to Anselmians.
Tries from Geoff Miles, Peter Fisher and Sam Randall, plus two conversions and a penalty from the ever-reliable boot of Bryn Snellgrove, earned the point, although Anselmians would have reflected on missing a stoppage time conversion which would have secured victory.
It was also a good start to the campaign for Vagabonds as they emerged 34-26 home winners over Winnington Park in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.
