Prestigious golf tournament returns to the Island

It's been a platform for world stars over the years

A prestigious UK golf tournament is being hosted on the Isle of Man over the next two days.

The Northern Counties Men's and Senior Men's Qualifying Championships are taking place at Mount Murray Golf Club and Castletown Golf Links today and tomorrow respectively (9-10 August).

As well as the Isle of Man, the strokeplay events will feature teams of six from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland

Over the years the competitions have been a platform for some of the top players in the world including Tommy Fleetwood, Danny Willett and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Manx golfers Darryl Callister and David Kinrade explain how challenging the tournaments are and what it means to have it back on Manx soil:

Both tournaments are free to attend for spectators.
