Powerlifting: Manx team named for Commonwealth championships

Eleven athletes heading to South Africa in October

Eleven athletes have been selected to represent the Isle of Man at this year's Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships.

Manx Powerlifting has confirmed its squad for the event taking place in Sun City, South Africa from 4-13 October.

Those set to be involved range from sub junior class competitors up to those who'll be involved in the Masters categories - Manx Powerlifting is describing it as 'fantastic' to be naming a team which ranges from those aged 15 to those over 50.

Meanwhile, the club says the trip will be self-funded and is planning a number of events to help raise money to make it happen.

It's also set up a gofundme page if anyone wishes to make a donation to their cause.
