Powerlifting: Isle of Man team arrives for Commonwealth championships

Manx team beginning competition in South Africa tomorrow (4 Oct)

The Isle of Man team has started to arrive in South Africa as they prepare to get their campaign underway at the 2024 Commonwealth Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships.

In total, eleven local athletes - lead by competitor and head coach Lisa Grant - are set to compete at the event in Sun City which runs from tomorrow (4 October) until Sunday, 13 October.

In the club's debut year in 2022 it attended the championships held that year in New Zealand where they secured 21 medals.

The event will open on Friday with the men's and women's classic bench and equipped bench classes - Teagan Lindsay; Kerry Lindsay; Kail De Los Reyes; Sam Harris; Harry Morgan; Freya Weldon; Lisa Grant and Lewis Runge are expected to be in action.
