Martial Arts: Island fighter takes world championship gold

Alanna Pritchard victorious in Uzbekistan

Isle of Man mixed martial artist Alanna Pritchard has won gold at the 2024 IMMAF World Championships.

The fighter from Ramsey claimed top spot in the Senior Women's Super Welterweight (79.4kg) class in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by beating Angola's Ana Fernanda via technical knockout (TKO) during the class final on Saturday (9 November).

It followed a victory for the 21-year-old in the semi-finals stage against Uzbekistan competitor Mashura Yuidosheva in the semi-final phase, also via TKO.

Among her other competition results in 2024, Pritchard took silver at the ADCC Open in Cardiff on 30 March in both the Women/Advanced 4+ Years Training (70kg) and Women 18+ Absolute classes.

Elsewhre she finished joint-fifth at the European, Middle East & African Championship in Zagreb, Croatia on 17 February.
