Striker strikes twice late on to hand FC Isle of Man victory

A quick-fire second-half double from Luke Booth saw FC Isle of Man come from behind to beat NWCFL Premier Division title contenders Chadderton 2-1 this afternoon (26 October).

Hosts Chadderton opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Adam Dale rise unmarked from a corner to head home.

With 25 minutes remaining the Manx side drew level as Sam Baines found Booth on the edge of the box to smash into the net before the striker netted again from a Callum Sherry cross in the 72nd minute.

The result sees the Island outfit claim a third straight victory to stay fifth in the table and in the promotion play-off positions.

The opening minutes saw Chadderton start the livelier of the two and they were rewarded with just over ten minutes played.

A pin-point cross from a corner found Dale who - with time and space - simply had to divert his header beyond FC Isle of Man goalkeeper, Adam Killey.

Whilst 'The Ravens' grew gradually on the ball for the remainder of the first period they were unable to break down a resolute Chadderton defence.

The second period began with both sides asking questions of the other but it was on 65 minutes one of them would succesfully strike.

Baines for FC Isle of Man found space to cut back a cross the edge of the Chadderton penalty area for Booth to duly oblige and slot past Chadderton goalkeeper Morgan Bacon.

Not content with getting level the Manx team quickly found the net again with Booth once again at the centre of things, taking his time from the edge of the box before converting once more.

Chadderton pushed to restore parity in the final ten minutes but were unable to find a way through a dogged FC Isle of Man defence which would hold firm to cling on to maximum points.

FC Isle of Man's next match will be at home against Abbey Hey on Saturday, 2 November, kicking-off at 6pm.
