Island competitor enjoys medal success in two recent events
Up and coming Island jiu-jitsu competitor Alan Greenhalgh has put in a series of medal-winning performances during two recent competitions in Japan.
The Summit Grappling Academy Isle of Man member scooped a gold medal and two silver medals during the recent Tokushima Open and Samurai Cup.
Following his success, the academy says it 'celebrates Alan's success and looks forward to his continued growth in the sport.'
It comes after a breakthrough 2024 for the young athlete where in the last 12 months he's taken medals at international events in the UK, USA and Italy.
On his latest trip to Asia, first for Greenhalgh was the Tokushima Open in which he managed silver medals in both the Gi and Nogi divisions.
Competing in two age brackets above his own he got as far as the semi-finals where he took points victories.
A week later Greenhalgh contest the Samurai Cup, starting his campaign with a decisive semi-final win on points.
Into the final and the Island competitor executed a mount and armlock to take gold via submission.
Victory saw Greenhalgh finish top of the division as well as being presented with a traditional Katana sword.
