Jiu-jitsu: Busy month ahead for Summit Grappling Academy

Manx club to also contest first female-only event in the next month

A busy month of national and international competition lies ahead for one of the Isle of Man's jiu-jitsu clubs in October.

Summit Grappling Academy is due to contest no fewer than seven events at both senior and junior level over the next three weeks.

During this period there will be another landmark moment for the Island club as it takes part in its first female-only event at the Empire Grappling Lancashire Open on 3 November.

One of those taking part in that - Sorrelle Williams - along with junior fighter Hana Henson explain what they're looking forward to in the coming days:

The hectic schedule will begin this weekend with the academy being represented at the IBJJF London Open on 12-13 October.

Following that the next fortnight will see them attend the IBJJF Rome Open (16-17 October); Elite BJJ Wolverhampton event (17 October); IBJJF European Nogi Championships (17-20 October) and IBJJF Lisbon Open (24-25 October).

The end of October will then see the junior competitors in the spotlight for the IBJJF Kids European Championships on 26-27 October in Lisbon before the women's team take on the Lancashire Open.
