Island to welcome World Downhill Skateboarding Championships this year

It'll be the first time the series has ever been held here

The Isle of Man is scheduled to be part of the World Downhill Skateboarding Championship (WDSC) for the first time this summer.

The Island has been penned in to host the third round of the 2025 series from 4-6 July in what will be the inaugural Manx race in the competition.

It'll take place on a 1.31km section of the Tholt-y-Will Road (A14) starting before the Sulby Reservoir Car Park and finishing at a point just past the Tholt-y-Will B&B.

The event's promoter, Selim Kemahli hopes it'll be an 'adrenaline-fuelled' spectacle for competitors and spectators that would become a 'multi-year' event:

In total there are six rounds of the championship being planned between June and December this year.

Announcing its plans for the year this week, the WDSC says 2025 'is shaping up to be the biggest season in WDSC history.'

Five of the six rounds are confirmed, starting with Axamer Lizum in Austria from 13-15 June.

Further stages are scheduled in Turkey, Isle of Man, USA and El Salvador - round five in Bogota, Colombia is still to be confirmed.

When confirming details of the Isle of Man course, WDSC adds it is hoping to 'put in a good show with a strong turn out' with hopes to return again but using a section of the Snaefell Mountain Course in future.
