Football: Second weekend of new season beckons

Who can extend early perfect records? (Fixtures: 7 Sept)

The early frontrunners across the Isle of Man football leagues will be hoping to maintain their fast starts going into gameday three of the 2024/25 campaign.

Following a busy schedule of midweek matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (3-4 September) all four divisions are back in action this Saturday (7 September).

In the Canada Life Men's Premier League, defending champions Ayre United and last season's runners-up Peel are two of four sides to have back-to-back wins in their opening two games alongside Corinthians and Union Mills.

Meanwhile only Braddan and Douglas High School Old Boys (Dhsob.) in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 have perfect records after their opening two games - this weekend Braddan face Pulrose United whilst 'Old Boys' have a weekend off.

Elsewhere across the combination leagues, Canada Life Combination One champions Ramsey are one of three teams on a maximum of six points already along with St Mary's and St John's United.

In Combination Two, 'Old Boys' combination squad - like their first team in Division 2 - have two wins from two alongside Colby at the summit.
