Football: Manxman O'Donoghue offered contract extension at Carlisle

18-year-old made first team debut earlier this season

Isle of Man footballer Freddie O'Donoghue has been offered a contract extension at Carlisle United FC.

The Manxman is one of four scholars at the club to be offered a new deal at the Sky Bet League Two club along with Sam Hetherington, Dan Hopper and Thomas Randall.

Having broken into the first-team setup this season, 18-year-old O'Donoghue made his first team debut on Tuesday, 3 September 2024 during a 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest Under-21's in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Just over two months later he racked up his first senior goal in a 2-1 victory away at Morecambe, also in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on 12 November, 2024.

Speaking to Carlisle United's club media, Academy Manager Steven Rudd says: "I am delighted for the players who have all been offered contract extensions...

“...The players have all worked very hard to achieve this opportunity, they have applied themselves consistently well every day in everything that they do and they should be proud of their achievements so far.

We are very excited to see how they progress as they start to make the transition into first team football."
