Female squad draw reserve place as men's side confirmed in main draw
The Isle of Man women's national football team look all but certain to miss out on a place at the 2025 Island Games in Orkney.
During last night's draws to select who would compete in the men's and women's tournaments, the Manx female squad weren't drawn for one of the 12 guaranteed spots instead being the last ball to be picked out as the third reserve.
Meanwhile, the Isle of Man men's team did make the main draw of their competition being held next year.
For each category, 16 nations are eligible the men's event and 15 for the women's competition, however only twelve spots are available for each at next year's games.
As hosts in 2025, Orkney have automatically qualified for both categories as did the winners from the previous games in the male and female tournaments, Jersey in the men's and Bermuda in the women's respectively.
Hitra were also a third automatic qualifier in the men's event after not being able to compete last year in Guernsey.
Currently, the group stage draws for the games are due to take place on Monday, 30 September.
During last year's event in Guernsey the Isle of Man claimed bronze in the women's event whilst the men's side - who won gold in Gibraltar in 2019 - finished ninth.
