Women's side heading to Jersey this weekend

The Isle of Man women's national football squad has been named to take on fellow Island nations in a new tournament later this week.

The Manx team is taking part in the inaugural Cherry Godfrey Cup being held in Jersey this Friday and Saturday (23-24 August).

Competing along with them will be the hosts Jersey as well as the Isle of Wight and Guernsey.

Led by captain Becky Corkish, the Isle of Man team will feature a mix of youth and experience.

Among the newer faces to join are Millie Dawson, Caitlyn Beaty and Emily Rawlins who made their debuts in the setup in the recent friendlies against NFA FC and the Lionesses' Supporters FC.

There are some absentees but it will also include Isle of Man Under-21 women's player of the year Eve McGeown.

Meanwhile, the Isle of Man will be the only nation taking part which managed to medal at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey just over a year ago.

It's also now been confirmed they'll face the Isle of Wight in their opening game on Friday at 5pm whilst Jersey will take on Guernsey in the following game at 8pm the same day.

The winners of those two fixtures will face off in the final at 3pm on Saturday whilst the losers will take part in a third/fourth-place play-off at the earlier time of 10am that morning.

All fixtures for the event will take place at Springfield Stadium in St Helier.
