Ravens looking to avoid third straight defeat

After a disappointing last seven days, FC Isle of Man will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat when they host Padiham in the NWCFL Premier Division on Saturday (12 October).

Following a strong run of results in September, 'The Ravens' have started this month with a home loss to Ramsbottom United last weekend and a heavy defeat away at Cheadle Town on Wednesday night.

Whilst he wasn't in the dugout for his team's loss two days ago, FC Isle of Man Manager Paul Jones is hopeful the 4-0 hammering at the hands of Cheadle is just a blip on their charge towards the upper end of the table.

Furthermore, he believes the players and staff will be keen to give a positive response against a dangerous Padiham team tomorrow:

The two losses in the last week for the Manx hosts are the first time they've come away empty-handed from back-to-back matches since late August and are also the first time they've gone two games without finding the net.

A turnaround on home turf this Saturday could, however, see the Island side move back up into the promotion play-off spots depending on results elsewhere.

They sit seventh in the table - just one point adrift of those spots - but having played more matches then most of the teams around the in the division currently.

Elsewhere, the head-to-head statistics between FC Isle of Man and Padiham are tight going into this weekend - the four meetings between them so far have resulted in two wins apiece for both.

Padiham, meanwhile, after a slow start to the season have begun to hit their stride in the last month.

'The Storks' are ten games unbeaten in all competitions and have lost just once in their last 16 outings.

Three points at The Bowl for Michael Morrison's team would see them leapfrog 'The Ravens' in the division.

FC Isle of Man vs Padiham takes place at The Bowl this Saturday, 12 October, kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary on our DAB and AM1368 channels.
