Easter Festival of Running finishes

Christoforou and Franklin win on Douglas promenade

Michael Christoforou picked up another win at the Isle of Man Easter Festival of Running.

The Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds athlete was the first to cross the line in Sunday morning's 5km run on Douglas promenade, finishing nine seconds ahead of Linton Taylor of Leeds' Doss Athletics Club in 14m 54s.

Alan Corlett was the best-placed local runner.

He finished sixth, 25 seconds behind Christoforou.

Manx Harriers' Rachael Franklin won the women's race in a time of 17m 27s, seven seconds ahead of Katy Hedgethorne of Cambridge Greyhounds.

Christoferou took the overall men's title, thanks to his two firsts and a second in the three races.

Hedgethorne won the women's title.

Leeds Doss AC won both the men's and women's team titles.
