Douglas bounce back against Wigan

Douglas put last week’s defeat firmly behind them with a 31-8 bonus point victory over Wigan at a wet and windy Port-e-Chee in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.

Glyn Hooson-Owen, Scott Goodall and Niall Killey all bagged first half tries with Bryn Snellgrove converting one to give them a 17-5 half-time lead.

Ryan Maddox’ second half try gave them the bonus point with regular marksman Daryn Thompson rounding the day off.

In Division Two, Ramsey started slowly on their trip to Orrell and trailed 22-0 after half an hour.

A try from centre Nick McCudden gave them a glimmer of hope and at the break they trailed 22-5.

However, in the second half Orrell added 15 unanswered points to make the game safe and run out 37-5 winners.

Ormskirk underlined their promotion credentials with a 60-17 demolition of Vagabonds.

The win keeps the Lancashire outfit in touch with new leaders Manchester Medics.

The Manx side slip to seventh after mid-table rivals Oswestry picked up a useful home win.

Vagabonds Ladies lost 24-5 to a strong Darlington side at Ballafletcher in a game which was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Tries from Sophie Craggs and Ali Lodge, plus a Craggs conversion, gave Darlington a 12-0 half-time lead.

Lauren Ellison pulled one back for Vagas early in the second half, but Craggs’ second and a try from Jess Cheeseman put the game beyond the home side’s reach.
