Cycling: Storrie confirms collarbone injury during Tour de France Femmes

She was one of two Manx riders in tour which concluded at the weekend

Isle of Man pro cyclist Becky Storrie has confirmed she suffered a broken collarbone during the latter stages of this year's Tour de France Femmes.

The rider and her squad Team dsm-firmenich PostNL announced the injury was sustained in a crash on the penultimate seventh stage of the event on Saturday (17 August).

As a result, Storrie was forced to withdraw from the remainder of the Women's WorldTour fixture which concluded on Sunday (18 August).

In a statement on social media, Storrie says it was 'sad' to be leaving the race that way but 'as a team we have achieved so much.'

It's the third time the Manx competitor has suffered a collarbone injury this season having also sustained similar setbacks in April and July this year.

Storrie was one of two Isle of Man elite riders taking part in the prestigious tour along with Lizzie Holden who was representing UAE Team ADQ.

Holden went on to finish 78th in the general classification (GC).
