Ben and Judith win opener

 

Ben Corkill and Judith Quane were the winners of the opening round of the Isle of Man Bank Winter Hill Running League.


Ben finished in a time of 16 minutes 12 seconds.


Ian Gale was a further 12 seconds behind (16.24) with Tom Cringle (16.31) in third place.


Judith Quane (20.37) won the women’s race from Rosy Craine (21.09) and Helen Taylor (22.16).


David Mullarkey produced an impressive showing to finish fifth overall and win the junior boys event.


His time of 17.18 saw him finish clear of Alex Bell (19.21) and Greg Crebbin (19.31).


Lorna Spiers (20.43) was the junior girls winner from Lydia Morris (22.07) and Isabella Barnes (22.29).


Rob Webb and Moira Hall were the respective veteran class winners in a race in which all 95 competitors finished.

 

Michael George continued his rich vein of form by winning the Up & Running Winter League Walk at the National Sports Centre on Sunday.


He finished ahead of his Parish Walk compatriot Richard Gerrard, Richard Wild and Richard Creer.
