Two thrilling races round off new series
Ryan Watterson and Sam Perry emerged victorious during the final round of a new running series is being held in Ramsey.
Tuesday night (7 March) saw the fifth and final stage of the Northern AC Winter Road Series take place in the northern town.
The routes for both races had to be altered at short-notice due to closures at the time on Mooragh Promenade.
In the one-lap contest - which was significantly reduced to around 1500 metres - Watterson took a dominant first place with a time of four minutes 19 seconds.
In a close competition for the other podium places, Becky Watterson took second spot in four minutes 42 seconds after holding off the advances of Catherine Perry who finished third and just two seconds further back.
Meanwhile, the three-lap race was also a close-run event with three in contention on the final stretch - Perry eventually emerged victorious in a time of 12 minutes 55 seconds, just a split-second ahead of Alex Bell in second.
Just two seconds after that the final three was completed with Ryan Corrin crossing the line in third.
The highest-placed female during the three-lap race was Joanne Schade who completed the route in 16 minutes 54 seconds and in 27th position overall.
The winter run series was brought in between November 2022 and this month to replace the Ramsey Fireman's Runs Series which was wound up in September last year.
