Athletics: Regan Corrin wins 2024 David Teece Award for Excellence

Manx competitor has excelled in high jump & long jump this year

Isle of Man athlete Regan Corrin has become the latest recipient of the David Teece Award for Excellence.

The Manx long jump and high jump competitor received the accolade as part of the IoM Athletics Track & Field Awards held last Friday (27 September).

Along with claiming the trophy, Corrin was also presented with a framed copy of the introduction to the background of the silverware as well as a list of his achievements this year.

Among his personal milestones in 2024, Corrin became the first Manx athlete in history to clear the seven-metre mark in the long jump in June, beating the Isle of Man long jump record for a second time this calendar year.

The following month he earned his first Great Britain call-up at the European Under-18 Athletics Championships in Slovakia where he narrowly missed out on a medal to finish fourth in the high jump event.

More recently in September he broke the Manx Under-20 high jump record at the Southport Waterloo Open by clearing a height of 2.13 metres, surpassing the previous Island benchmark of 2.10 set by Martin Aram in 2001.

Should his performance at that meeting be ratified, he will become Europe's number one Under-18 high jump athlete as well as number four ranked globally for that age group.
