He becomes first Manx athlete to surpass seven-metre mark
Island athlete Regan Corrin has become the first Manx competitor to surpass the seven-metre mark in long jump competition.
Taking part in the Northern Athletics Track & Field Championships in Middlesbrough last Saturday (8 June) he managed a distance of 7.07 metres to take the silver medal in the men's Under-20 final.
It's now the second time Corrin has beaten the previous Isle of Man record of 6.92 metres set by Phil Riley at the 2007 Island Games in Rhodes with Corrin also recording a 6.94 metre jump in January.
In last weekend's competition he was only beaten by Sale Harriers' Miguel Gaisah (7.16m) with Ian Dimitri Mahop of Leeds City AC completing the podium in third (6.58m).
Along with his long jump achievements, in the last year the Manx Harriers athlete took gold in the men's high jump at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey in July last year before claiming the England Under-17 high jump title in Birmingham a month later.
