Athletics: Plans unveiled for new half marathon event

March challenge to take place in and around Ramsey

Plans have been announced for a new Island half-marathon event next month.

The Flutter International Hospice Half Marathon is due to take place from 9am on Sunday, 23 March starting and finishing in Ramsey.

Those behind it hope it can be accessible for both novice and experienced runners and would take place on closed roads in the region.

The charity also hopes money generated from the likes of entry fees can go towards supporting some of Hospice's services in the community.

As is stands, the race would begin on West Quay going into two laps on closed roads in Ramsey town centre after which participants will continue onto a wider course.

The route will then eventually loop back around to West Quay before proceeding to the finish line on Market Place.

Confirming the plans for the event, Hospice Isle of Man adds those who enter could help collectively raise £30,000 to fund up to 140 palliative care nursing visits for patients receiving end of life care at home.

Further details and application forms can be found by visiting the Hospice Isle of Man website.
