He served as a Bombardier with the 178 Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery
Port Erin resident and World War Two veteran James Fenton is celebrating a remarkable milestone today - his 103rd birthday.
Mr Fenton served as a Bombardier with the 178 Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery and was deployed to Burma at the age of 20, fighting in the challenging conditions of the jungle as part of the 14th Army, often referred to as the “Forgotten Army.”
Over the years, he has proudly represented Burma Veterans at London’s Cenotaph and has been a familiar face at Remembrance events in St John’s.
Today, he’s expected to mark the occasion with a garden party, celebrating more than a century of life and service.
