From minimum wage to Cummal Mooar
The House of Keys will sit today (8 April) for its weekly question-and-answer session, with 22 questions tabled for ministers.
The topics span a wide range of government activity - from the number of workers earning minimum wage, to how many cats eye reflectors have been installed on Island roads in the past twelve months.
Meanwhile, Onchan MHK Julie Edge has been granted permission to ask an urgent question relating to breast clinic services; she'll ask Health Minister Claire Christian to make a statement after Manx Care announced the service would not be running as hoped for the next month.
Some questions were deferred from last week due to the absence of MHKs Ms Edge and Lawrie Hooper.
Mr Hooper will now ask a priority question on plans to replace Cummal Mooar Residential Home, while Ms Edge is seeking clarity on when the Island’s Cancer Plan was last updated.
Other issues up for discussion include when recruitment will begin for a new Chief Executive Officer to replace Andy Ralphs - a question from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas - and a query from Glenfaba and Peel MHK Kate Lord-Brennan on Treasury’s strategy to control and reduce public spending.
Further questions cover digital proof for residents with settled status, lessons learned from a recent inspection of tiles at the National Sports Centre, and whether King William’s College has applied for any form of financial support.
The session will not include any debate or legislation, focusing solely on oral questions.
