Motion sensitive cameras around village
If you’re out and about in Port St Mary – watch out!
That’s the message from Port St Mary Commissioners who have installed a number of concealed cameras around the village.
It’s in a bid to deter the owners of dogs who foul the streets.
The cameras have an unfortunate name - ‘motion-sensitive’.
Yet they can record both still photographs and video and that’s something the local authority hopes will catch offenders who, they say, will be prosecuted.
The areas where dogs can be exercised in the port include places where children play and where picnickers go.
Commissioners’ chairman Alan Grace says the majority of dog-owners behave responsibly but the minority are having an unacceptable impact on cleanliness in the village.
