Waiting lists, SPC sailings and cuts to easyJet flights under Tynwald spotlight

15 questions to follow Budget debate

Cuts to easyJet services, issues at the Isle of Man Meat Plant and hospital waiting lists will be under the spotlight in Tynwald this week.

Fifteen questions have been tabled for the February sitting which is expected to be dominated by the Budget.

Treasury Minister Alex Allinson will unveil the Isle of Man’s financial plan for the year ahead today (18 February).

Following debate the focus will move to the question paper.

Three MHKs are responsible for tabling the 15 questions.

Onchan’s Julie Edge has six; she wants clarity about the definition of a frontline worker in the health service and more information about a National Insurance rebate scheme.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHKs Jason Moorhouse and Tim Glover have tabled the remaining questions.

Mr Glover wants to know when the enterprise minister became aware of easyJet’s plans to cut services over the summer months and what talks are taking place with the airline.

He’ll also quiz the environment, food and agriculture minister about operational issues at the Isle of Man Meat Plant.

Mr Moorhouse, who is asking seven questions, wants more information on the number of people being taken off waiting lists and the reasons why the Ben-my-Chree didn’t sail on two dates in January.
