MHK queries proposals for Liverpool facility
Proposals for a new ferry terminal at Princes Half-Tide Dock in Liverpool are at a very early stage, and its suitability has yet to be confirmed.
That message in Tynwald today (16 May) from infrastructure minister Ray Harmer.
He was asked by North Douglas MHK David Ashford for an update on plans to replace the existing Pier Head facility.
The government has not yet purchased the Half-Tide site, which may form part of a huge riverside development by owners Peel Group.
David Ashford asked whether the impact of any development on residents and traffic in the area had been carried out, and also raised concerns large-scale river dredging may be required for ferries to get in and out safely.
To each query the minister told him it was 'too early to say', but assured Tynwald a newly-formed project team would assess all aspects of locating a ferry terminal there:
