UK Gov't support for renewable energy 'beneficial' for windfarm developer

Orsted hoping to build an offshore development off Manx coast

Having a UK government that supports renewable energy could benefit the firm looking to build a windfarm off the Island's coast.

Orsted is currently consulting on proposals for a development that would include up to 100 turbines, with a planning application expected to be submitted in the spring.

The majority of the electricity generated at Mooir Vannin would be sold to the UK market, but the site would result in rent and tax revenue for the Isle of Man.
