Tynwald to be recalled over Brexit

Parliament to debate vote's impact

Tynwald has been recalled in the wake of the UK's vote to leave the European Union.

The court will sit tomorrow at 10am (28 June), ahead of the House of Keys' scheduled sitting.

Parliament's recall was requested by Chief Minister Allan Bell and sanctioned by the President of Tynwald Clare Christian.

Mr Bell has spoken publicly of the government's concerns about the impact of Brexit on the Isle of Man, and the uncertainty unleashed.

The Island's trading relationship with the EU, Protocol 3, will fall when the UK leaves the union, leaving the Island isolated until a new trade deal is brokered.

Tomorrow's special sitting of Tynwald will allow for a full a debate on the implications of Brexit, two week ahead of July's sitting.
