Yellow warning 'particularly issued because of ongoing parking on Douglas promenade'
Ronaldsway Met Office has issued two weather warnings for today.
The first, an amber warning for snow, came into effect at 11pm last night (Saturday 4 January) and remains in place until 3am tomorrow morning (Monday 6 January).
We were warned to be prepared for the 'risk of significant amounts of snow'; but it appears to have fallen as sleet or rain in many areas overnight.
However, the Mountain Road does remain closed this morning (correct as of 6:30am) following snowfall there last night.
Forecasters say that the snow level will 'gradually rise through the day as the air becomes slightly less cold'.
They add: 'Large accumulations of snow expected for higher hills with significant drifting in the strong northeast winds.'
The maximum temperature today is 3°C but 'feeling bitterly cold with significant wind chill'.
OVERTOPPING
Separately, a second yellow warning has now been issued for coastal overtopping.
The experts say a large high tide at 3pm today (Sunday 5 January) accompanied with fresh northeast winds will cause waves to wash onto exposed roads and promenades.
Areas most likely to be affected are Ramsey promenade, and the southern end of Douglas promenade.
The warning has been issued 'particularly because of the ongoing parking on Douglas promenade'.
Christmas parking on the prom remains in place until Wednesday 8 January.
