Two warnings as strong winds and cold temperatures combine

Yellow warning for coastal overtopping and ice issued by Ronaldsway

Two weather warnings are set to come into force this evening (13 February) as strong southeast winds and freezing temperatures head towards the Island overnight.

The first, for coastal overtopping, will begin at 11pm as sea water is expected to crash onto exposed coastal roads and promenades for a couple of hours around the time of the next two high tides.

That warning will remain in place until 2:30pm on Friday (14 February).

These are approximately 00:24am tonight and 12:31pm tomorrow. 

This will particularly occur along Douglas promenade, with other parts of the island exposed to the east or southeast affected to a lesser extent.

That yellow warning will remain in place until 2:30pm on Friday (14 February).

A second yellow weather warning will be in force between midnight and 11am tomorrow for ice on high level roads mainly above 500 feet.

Forecasters say the majority of surfaces will stay dry, with any ice only where there is pre-existing moisture.
