Plans to rebuild Trafalgar House as flats, wine bar and gym

Planning application from South Quay Commercial Limited

A planning application has been lodged to demolish the former Trafalgar pub on South Quay in Douglas, and build flats, shops, offices, a gym and a wine bar.

Applicant South Quay Commercial Limited is also seeking consent to take down adjacent industrial units as part of the proposed mixed development.

It proposes to built a block of 37 one to two-bedroom flats with private balconies, including penthouse apartments.

Another section includes a combined three floors of offices, a gym with pool, and a rooftop wine bar.

Two levels of underground parking with 71 spaces for the future occupants of the flats have also been factored into the design.

The design statement explains the site would offer a 'superb' opportunity to create a 'landmark building in traditional style'.

Douglas Council and the public will be afforded the opportunity to comment on the plans, which are available to view online via the government's planning portal.
