Minister wants drug discussion
A review of the Island's laws on cannabis could get underway soon.
Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey told a Tynwald committee yesterday (Wed) that a 'full discussion' is needed, as many jurisdictions around the world change their legal classification of the Class B drug.
Posession of cannabis was blamed largely for a supposed 11% spike in crime in the Island last year.
Whilst full decriminalisation is 'not a likely option', Mr Malarkey says talks are continuing with the Attorney General over how the Island's laws could be changed.
