'Thomas the Town Cat' made 'free feline' following ceremony

A business owner in Ramsey says a town cat has helped draw people to the northern town.

Thomas has been officially given ‘free’ status by Ramsey Commissioners; it’s the first time it’s been handed out since 2010.

The feline was found a few years ago in shipping containers and was very quickly taken in by the town's businesses. 

He was born on the North Promenade and is believed to be six years old which is 40 in human years.

Suzanne, who owns Suzanne Young Pilates, is one of his guardians and says he appeared on her doorstep two years ago after a night out.

He's been in a few scrapes since then - suffering dog bites and getting a puncture wound on his leg. 

After those incidents a crowdfunder was set up to help pay for his veterinary care.
