Taxi driver calls for OFT to investigate bus service

Cabby claims taxi drivers are being forced out of business by buses and licensing issues

A taxi driver is calling for the Office of Fair Trading to investigate the bus service claiming it's forcing those in the taxi trade out of business.

Barry Murphy, who's owned a taxi for more than 20 years, says the licensing system and buses are behind the regular shortage of taxis at the airport.

He believes more taxi drivers are now plying for trade in Douglas leaving some rural areas without cover.

Mr Murphy says it's the customer who's losing out:

Manx Radio has contacted the Department of Infrastructure for a response.
