Tall ships with Island cadets onboard sail to Manx shores

Initiative offers opportunity for 'maritime adventure'

Three tall ships arrived in Douglas harbour last night (Wednesday) as part of an initiative led by Isle of Man Maritime.

Twelve teenagers are taking part in the scheme, which hopes to encourage young people to consider a career in sailing.

The Leader, the Pelican of London and the Spirit of Falmouth set sail from Barrow on Monday (12 August).

Captain Lee Clarke is the general manager of Isle of Man Maritime:

Last month Captain Clarke told Manx Radio there's a shortage of people in the maritime sector on the Isle of Man.
